I own this same set and it is a really nice TV but not for $688 refurbished. I paid $818 from best buy with a 2 year warranty out the door. Mine was open box tho, the previous owner couldn't get the WiFi to work and returned it. I got it home and it worked just fine.
I've seen this set go on sale new for $799 which still isn't a bad price but this is far from hot

Refurb is better than new in most cases. A human has worked on it and certified it to be operating correctly. Electronics that come off a factory line are usually not tested as the mfg relies on the warranty to fix any problems.

Bit of truth there. Ive had really good luck with refurb stuff.

Not true. In most cases, you are getting a severely limited warranty compared to new. Typically, instead of 1-2 years, you get 1-3 months. The value of the warranty is figured into the price, and while refurbed are usually cheaper, you also are not getting the warranty. If you factor the value of the warranty out of the new price (or into the refurbed price) it often isn't such a great deal anymore.

have you ever worked in a electronic manufacturing plant? I have, computers, and every unit was tested and burned in for 24 hrs before being packed and shipped out.
