you are almost guarenteed that these are simply returned hard drives, that were never defective.
drives go bad yes we all know but i highly HIGHLY doubt that these were bad and refurbed. i would stake my check on it that these are simply returns from stores and Seagate goes thru their normal routine and has to tag them refurbed.

OP, you should really put Refurb in the title. For $16 more i think i'd rather get the Seagate 750GB from Newegg.

5yr. warranty over 1/2yr. is worth the extra money IMO. :)
