Mojae, I had much better luck with the real Turtle Beach drivers - I'd use those for sure.

I also would have to agree. Use the Turtle beach drivers, not the dell ones.

(you think he got the message?)

I got a box today, that should have had the card in it. Unfortunately, it was quite empty, other than an invoice. Now to see how helpful their CS is...

Whoa...that sucks...I ordered mine today. Can't beat $30 off...Are these basically just system pulls? How bad off could these cards actually be?

[FLAME]ARG, DELL IS PISSING THE HELL OUT OF ME...[/FLAME]

They haven't sent me the order confirmation yet. Nor have they replied to my e-mails. I guess I have no choice but to call and listen to muzak for 30 minutes.

"Your call is very important to us. Please hold on, your call will be answered in the order it was recieved... [muzak]....[/muzak] <click> (you pick up the phone thinking somebody answered) Give us your money, your youth, and your blood (says the machine) ... [muzak]"

Crank & Shippy,

What was the percieved difference? I tried the Dell first, then installe dthe YB instead, and did not observe any difference.

I had to reboot about four times before the Dell drivers were able to finish the installation process - my system kept hanging at the point where it detects and installs the game controller port.
Once I finally got them loaded, it first played all sound through my PC speaker rather than my external speakers. I manually removed my on-board audio stuff from the device manager, and that helped with MP3's, but MIDI stuff still played through the PC speaker.
After I installed the TB drivers, it fixed everything, plus updated the speaker icon in the system tray (something the Dell drivers didn't do).

Actually, I never installed the Dell drivers. I always try to install the OEM drives for any piece of hardware, as it is usually updated way before any reseller's drivers. I haven't had any problems with the TB drives since I installed them.

The control panel comes with the driver in the link above. Its about 20mb in zip file. Mine came in with refurbish sticker on it. So far, it has been working fine. Used the control panel to switch between 2/4 speakers, and versa jack for the headphones with a click of a button, instead of crawling down under the desk to do that.

To all who got in on this deal:
I just got off the phone with Dell Customer Service. I let them know that a couple of people I know that ordered this card got free shipping. I politely asked if I could have free shipping too.
They didn't even really put up a fight, just made me wait on hold for a few minutes. Yeah, I know, it's only $8, but hey, I wasn't busy today at work anyway

I called customer service becase the e-mail help people said they couldn't change my shipping charge. They sent me this:

To receive a credit for a portion of the shipping coast, you would need
to contact our Customer Service division. They can be reached at
800-624-9897
then select options 4, 2, 5 and 4 to speak to a representative. They may
be able to adjust your account for you. But I'm not sure what there
specific policies are in this case.

Anyway, hope it helps.

I guess I'm in the same boat as a lot of others here.

Just got the second "confirmation" Email a few minutes
ago. The first Email was dated 6/28/01, so it took them
a week (and 2 Emails from me) to even respond.

Then, of course, they really needed to charge me that
outrageous $8 shipping fee. Hell, I'm getting a used
notebook (8 lbs. worth) shipped halfway across the
country for $7! Gimmee a break!

Oh well, looks like I'll be playing phone tag to get this
fixed. I'll never buy anything from Dell ever again.
