NewEgg has lower the price considerably; I remember they were about $378.00 last time I checked a few weeks ago!!! With a better cooling solution (Arctic NV5) and a modified bios; (a popular thing in the overclocking community with the 6800 GT series is to volt mod the card from a stock of 1.3v to 1.4v; this is easily done with a simple bios flash) the card will run stable at 6800 Ultra speeds!!! These refurbs should come with there retail boxes because most likely there directly from eVGA's Step Up program which requires that all returned tradein eVGA cards come with there original retail boxes, cables etc.

Is this really refurbed by the Mfr or is it just an item that a customer did not want and returned ?

If it is simply an "open box return" then the chance that the 1st customer had problems with this item is very great

I would ask who "Refurbished" the item ?

Bleh, i got a refurb video card last year, had to return it 3 times just to be refunded. Ill pass.

i don't think these come with their retail boxes because it says (OEM, barebone) at the end of the product name. i'd pay a little extra for a brand new gt.

you also dont need to up the voltage or flash a bios to oc to ultra specs..easily done with coolbits and stable.

And it is still not guaranteed you will hit ultra speeds/specs. Easy? Yea right... A little too optomistic.
If the card already has artifacting before, then higher voltage increasing the voltage won't help much or any at all.

My previous card almost reached ultra speed on 1 of the 2 (core or memory). But overall it wasn't an ultra.

Well, gee, no need to buy a refurb... I have a nice RETAIL BFG 6800GT OC for sale, and it has already been modded to an ULTRA and has nice NV5 cooler as well as the stock cooler.

Only $350.00 shipped with original retail box.

What I like about the BFG is the lifetime warentee (voided when you modded it) which this refurb deal seems to be lacking any kind of warentee at all. Newegg doesnt look to be offering their warentee, and its an OEM card so I doubt the mfgr will be.

I am gonna pass on this one.

BBA x800XL AGP $343 shipped (pre-order): http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0007XGOQY/qid=1110903150

Search Hot Deals, there was a post of X800XL's @ NewEgg below MSRP

above link is for agp (im still pissed about the 40 dollar increase - not as big a bang for the buck)

$343 shipped is below MSRP. The x800XL AGP is priced at $350 MSRP. Since there's no tax or shipping, it's a great deal at that price. And this is a built by ATI full retail packaged card with 3 year warranty.

I bought my x800XL PCIe for $260 including tax. :p

Yah, its no longer a "6800GT Killer" if it costs the same and performs the same.

Just a word of warning.

I bought a "REFURBISHED" AIW 9800 pro from NewEgg.com and I had problems from day one. Newegg was great about making me happy, as always, but I will never buy a "REFURBISHED" card again.
