I've only had mentionable pump noise when mounting the water block or radiator awkwardly. With some trial and error you can orient the hoses to either minimize air in the system causing noise or making the hoses less vertical to reduce load on the pump.
I've installed almost a dozen Asetek systems (OEM for Corsair, Antec, Coolermaster, etc) over the years and haven't had a single one fail. However, there have been certain cases where eliminating pump noise can be a trick. The FT03-Mini (with the radiator BELOW the water block/pump) and various cases with bottom-mount radiators come to mind.
At first thought, a bottom-mount radiator would give you the impression the pump doesn't have to work as hard, but physically it has to work twice as hard because it's pushing 100% of the liquid weight, where as if the radiator were level or above the pump, it'd push only 50% or so liquid weight because gravity would help with the return line. If this is your scenario you want to make sure the water block hoses point horizontal, not verticle (up or down) to eliminate air and a dry-pump. This is what I believe causes most failures and returns.
