I've only had mentionable pump noise when mounting the water block or radiator awkwardly. With some trial and error you can orient the hoses to either minimize air in the system causing noise or making the hoses less vertical to reduce load on the pump.

I've installed almost a dozen Asetek systems (OEM for Corsair, Antec, Coolermaster, etc) over the years and haven't had a single one fail. However, there have been certain cases where eliminating pump noise can be a trick. The FT03-Mini (with the radiator BELOW the water block/pump) and various cases with bottom-mount radiators come to mind.

At first thought, a bottom-mount radiator would give you the impression the pump doesn't have to work as hard, but physically it has to work twice as hard because it's pushing 100% of the liquid weight, where as if the radiator were level or above the pump, it'd push only 50% or so liquid weight because gravity would help with the return line. If this is your scenario you want to make sure the water block hoses point horizontal, not verticle (up or down) to eliminate air and a dry-pump. This is what I believe causes most failures and returns.

BTW I bought one of these last go around and have had zero issues. I'm sure there are some duds but aside from the part number there were no indications that I received a refurb which is indicative of a good refurbishment IMO.

Mine was delivered today. If it wasn't for a little refurbished sticker on the box I could have sworn it was a brand new unit. Now it's waiting to go in my new Carbide 300R.

I'd rather hear the ringing in my own ear before I heard a pump or fan spinning ;)

The pump is quiet enough, but fans are a different matter. Inside a case, inside my computer desk, my own PC is pretty silent.

I got the Corsair H60 when it was $20 a while back to install in my living room PC... and unfortunately, the media case wasn't quite big enough to fit the fan inside. It's annoyingly loud outside of the case, leaving me have to build some sort of noise suppressing baffle.

Inside the case, it should be reasonable.

This may be off topic, but I just ordered a Corsair 750w PSU refurb, and it was a POS out of the box! The fan unit made this horrible loud grinding noise. I don't know how this was resold or passed QA, but I will NEVER buy refurb Corsair again. I love Corsair stuff, but this should not have been allowed to happen. Now I have to effing pay shipping just even though it's their fault...bs if you asked me.

You just got a bad/lemon unit...

I ordered a refurb Corsair TX 750 80+ (v1) from Tiger Direct a few weeks ago. It powers my OCed 4770k, overclocked 7970, and 7870 with room to spare. All mining 24/7.

Considering I got it for $40 after $20 MIR, I'm pretty happy with my purchase.

I am seriously disappointed in the refurb h60 (also v1) I have though. Any air cooler at half the cost would give me much better performance.
