16:10 resolution! I have the NEC 20WMGX2 (i have 2 of them) and they are still my favorite IPS panels to date!

guys ive been thinking. i have a samsung 225bw now, and i have a feeling once i set this new sammy up im going to want to trade my old one in.

would it be evil for me to tell grandma my 225bw is better for her? (lower resolution, larger (.5"), and height adjustable)

i think ill set up the new one side by side and see what it looks like first, but i know my 225bw isnt the best with video and tv.... it has excellent text quality though, and thats all she will use it for anyway.

1920*1080 on a 22 in panel

interesting

i too was surprised to see all the 22 panels at that resolution, and im guessing they can do that now since lcd's can actually scale down in resolution quite well.

got the monitor today. a few things

it is VERY lightweight. i know most lcd tv's and monitors are now these days, but i didnt even think the monitor was in the box when i picked it up... it actually makes for a cheaper feel to the construction of the unit, but physically handling this monitor will not be often so who cares.

the image is BRIGHT, but i wouldnt say its that much better then my old 225bw. i think its actually noticeable between these two monitors- the shift from pc screens to multimedia monitors (which is what this ex2220 really is). i was a little surprised to find that the dynamic contrast, even though it disables all other picture settings, is actually the best looking setting for the screen. i suppose it makes sense though, as it is a screen geared toward video playback. when you do compare video playback between the 225bw and the ex2220, the new screen takes the old one to school. the brightness is the biggest difference, but the contrast in dynamic mode really does make the image look like a LCD TV does.

the resolution is too high for ideal pc use- ie, reading text. putting the dpi at 125% makes it pretty good, but i still think the text is easier to read on my old 225bw.

power consumption is next to nothing. not even sure what the eco modes are for... its always in eco mode even set to full power.

the ports face straight out the back. there wont be any smashing this monitor up against the back of your desk... and the screen doesnt tilt forward, so dont ever sit higher then the screen height is (which is normally because people who sit at desks dont need forward tilt, however like i said this is better off as a tv screen anyway so its an area where its not totally clear what the screen is designed for).

the screen is not only 21.5", but its 16:9 so its actually quite a bit smaller then my 22" 16:10 225bw. its not a drastic difference of course, but the new screen looks like a little brother while sitting side by side.

button layout is nearly identical to my years and years old sammy, im a little surprised how similar this new monitor is to the older ones... its less quality construction but you can tell theyre both made by the same company, that is for sure. \

overall, a GREAT $125 screen because it IS so good at video. its still good at text and web surfing, but when the day comes you upgrade your pc monitor, this will make a more then adequate bedroom tv.

so the old monitor i have is built better, but i moreso hopeso because i paid $360 for that when it was new. you can tell on the new models they cut some corners and simplified the functional layout to keep costs down, its pretty obvious. but still, i dont notice any faults that would keep me from buying it again if i needed another.

this guys review was as brilliant as the monitor

now it's back up to $140 :(

its definitely not a hot deal at that price. a good deal, but while this monitor is really nice theres nothing about it too special. i like how bright it is, and i like the video playback, but i dont like the stand it has and i dont liike that i still notice its a smaller screen then my 225bw. not really a fault of the model of course, but i see why 24" monitors are selling more. it basically had to do with 16:9 ratio coming into maturity. you can find 24" screens for $160 and i dont think youll miss much on quality even if you buy the cheapest 24" you can find.
