Refurb ReplayTV $329 WITH LIFETIME

Yeah, that thick wallet site has a friends and family link for 15% off, if it's good on the refurbs... people have posted that it let them place the order at the discounted rate.
I was able to get the main page again about 10 minutes ago, but couldn't follow any links without losing the site.

LizardBoy: Is this $350 with the 30GB or 100GB drive? Preferably, I'd like to keep the 100GB drive and transplant into the 5040.

more space doesn't always equal more money on ebay, but it doesn't hurt...look through completed auctions on ebay to get a better idea

plus you can get a 120GB drive for $30 this weekend...just put that in your 5040 when it arrives, less work and you'll have a newer drive

Shamelessly ripped from Cornelius @ FW:

How about a refurbished TiVo directly from Philips for $60 more?

http://www.servicedvr.com/Extra/BuyExtraTivo.asp

Buy a $90 TiVo, add $300 for lifetime service. Upgrading a TiVo with a bigger hard drive is pretty easy. The Philips models have been around for a while, and except for the modem lightning surge problem (unplug the phone cord in a storm), are pretty reliable. Many users report the older Philips and Sony TiVos (they have the same internal parts and were made at the same factory) have a better quality picture than the newer Series 2 models from TiVo.

I finally got in on this deal after an hour of trying.

I used the friends & Family link and got it for $292 shipped!

Only bad thing is that I've heard the 5xxx series have reliability problems. I'm going to keep my showstopper 3030 around for awhile.

Yup, it's back on! Yeee-Haw!

I don't know about the F&Family thing though. Won't it look odd when all of a sudden every order for the ReplayTV is being made by an employee of Microsoft Corp?

I still can't seem to order... I fill out my address and shipping method, then it dumps me back at the login screen. I try to log in, and then it dumps me back at the registration screen. Anybody else have this problem?

edit:

turns out the 3 other times that I tried registering with 3 different emails, it didn't go through, so when I tried logging in with those emails, it wouldn't work. When I tried re-registering with those same emails, it said it was still in the system. Go figure. So I finally tried one other email acct I had, and it worked.

Others on FW have reported the same thing. They just kept trying until it worked for them

It is garanteed there are no working coupons with SB right now, they used to give coupons for the preoders of new products - 100$ off , or free install, or free shipping and such, those are long gone. Rebates are also not valid on this unit, but the deal is great, I could not pass it up.

Since you got in on this early, did your confirmation email say "backordered"?

I don't know if everybody is getting this because they're not available until the 29th and Sonic Blue is just calling that "backordered", or if only the latecomers are getting the "Backordered" emails because the inventory is low/out

Just ordered one F & F for 292 shipped. Seems like a great deal to me considering subs alone will be that much in a week! Also, I like the fact this one can be 'upgraded' with bigger HD's.

-check the chubby forum for 15% F & F...😉

Pls explain!

There's another site out there with a link to a Friends & Family Discount. Someone mentioned Chubby Wallet as one, I use the one at the well known Technology Bargains site.

Saying it gives you another 15% is misleading. Techbargains has the same link that's on FW, so it will give you the same 15% off that the FW Friends and Family link gives

I'd still like to hear from the people that got in on this deal at the very beginning (Friday night and early AM Saturday, before the site got hammered and went down) I just want to know if ->everybody's<- gotten the "backordered" email and if ->everybody's<- order status is "Waiting to Process"

Just trying to gauge whether or not this will come through.

I ordered friday night right before I posted this, and mine says backordered, so I don't think there's much need to worry.

Can you just put a regular hard drive in the tivo as well? or do you need a special one. Also, what is the better deal, the replaytv, or the tivo that is listed in this thread? Does anyone know? Please let me know.

Thanks
Kruseman

because it violates the #1 hot deals rule: NO PHONE CALLS 😛

seriously, ReplayLyndon, who works for Replay, has asked that everyone not flood them with calls on Tuesday...Lyndon is a good guy who has helped many, many Replay owners...let's give them a day or two to figure out to do with several thousand orders, many of which are using a coupon exploit

That's actually the #1 hotdeals myth, not rule. 🙂

If you want to know if you're getting one or not, the only authorititave source is Replay. No one here at AT can tell you. And I wouldn't worry about calling them. You did after all give them $300.... companies engaged in commerce generally expect to talk to customers at some point....

Alternately, unless you absolute MUST have a replay now, there's not much reason in calling them before May 29 (the date they said units would begin to be available). Nothing is going to happen before then anyway.

I called them yesterday when the site was down in an effort to (1) find out what was going on and (2) place my order over the phone. But they don't take phone orders and didn't know anything about what was going on with the site except that they "couldn't get through either".

On the other hand, if somebody who ordered the Replay Friday night got a confirmation email that did not say "backordered", then at least I would know that my order was different than the initial orders. At this point, as far as I know, anybody who orders 5 of these every hour for the next 24 hours is going to get the exact same email I got, and that doesn't tell me squat.

Also, I don't think I should have to wait until the 29th to know whether or not my order will be fulfilled. Maybe I will have to wait until the 29th, but they should have some idea of how many orders were placed and how many units will be available.

I really think you're getting worried over nothing. They're still selling this on their web page. Since they told you up front it wasn't going to ship right away, I think you would expect it to say "backordered." If their system is sophisticated enough to know exactly how many they have, then if it sold out 72 hours ago they would have taken it off their home page by now.
