NOOOOOO, I just purchased the x800xl yesterday and shipping was $15. :(

Banner ad states free shipping for $150 purchase. Seems like they lowered it though. :(

are these cards better than a X800GTO?

6800GS competes with X800GTO. X800XL competes 6800GT.

so is the 6800GS faster than the 6800GT? :D

Just looked it up...the 6800GT is the faster card.

Anyways...just ordered the X800XL and with free shipping with coupon code = $113.XX

X800 XL 256/512MB (400/1000) (AGP/PCIe)
- 16 pixel shader units ? 16 TMUs ? 16 ROPs - 6 vertex shader units
It performs a bit better than an X850 Pro. The card has a pretty similar performance as a 6800 GT.

Please see this link on HardOCP for a good video card buying guide.

Nice, I'm glad I decided not to buy the x800xl when there was a $15 shipping charge last week. $113.05 shipped is a sweet deal for it. :)

So question is how do these refurb x850 pro's OC as compared to the x800XL. Seems to make no sence to buy the 850pro. Any reason one should get the 850pro other than no more stock of the 800xl's?

I show the 800XLs in stock?

As for OC. The XL only clocks up between 15-35 on every web page article I have seen. So the results are not as good you might hope for.

Is the 5% discount code withint the rules to share and use, or is it intended only for those to whom it's sent?

No that is not my point. From the HardForum: The Video Buyer's Guide "X850 Pro usually overclock a bit better than a X800 XL therefore nullifying the lead." SO the X800xl is faster than the X850 Pro and you have to OC the X850 Pro to get to X800xl speeds so it is better to just get the X800xl. UNLESS those extra pipes in the X850pro might provide something I'm missing? Do pipes at this level matter? 12 in the X800 and 16 in the X850.

Both excellent cards, at a really great price. Cheaper than ebay.
I love my 850 Pro, clocks to 590/1180 with no sweat. Can't unlock to 16 pipes though.

I do recommend a Artic Cooling Silencer 5 Rev.2 at least for the 850, much quieter and cooler. $20 at svc.com.

Does any one know if the X850 Pro has the 1.6 ns memory or the 2.0?

If it comes with the 1.6 ns memory and the yellow connector then from what I have read from guru3d/techpowerup you can unlock the 12 to 16 and up the speeds.
