Damn.....8500DV for 99. IS this as sweet of a deal as I think it is?

Would this make a great card for my Shuttle box? watch TV in my room, video in, bring it downstairs for video out by the big TV....etc

Should I go for it?

Last refurb I bought from Newegg, a 8500LE, wasted like 4 days of fussing around before I was sure it was bad. I did a repair RMA, but after a few days they just credited me for the purchase price, but for some reason not the Ca Tax.

No more refurbs for me.

True, and they'd be new cards as well - but since I was screwed out of a $50 OfficeMax/Cendyne rebate, I really would rather not deal with rebates, crowds, or tax or coupons..

looks like the 8500DV and 9600 are OOS.

Who is going to have these for that price? I've been holding out for the 9600XT but have given up hope they will be available anytime soon for a decent price. For $70 I might go ahead and get the NP and wait a few months on a good XT deal.

There was a post about ATI auctions a week ago which was locked altho some of the acutions had a buy now option.
Dunno if the auction is still alive. You can go to the main ati page to look for it.
I got me a 8500 DV (new) for $94 shipped with the USB remote wonder. There were some guys who got the AIW 9700 for $195 which was a steal.

Just received my two ATI Radeon 9600 PRO (refurb) from Newegg. Installed on my computers and both seems to be working fine.

I've always been a Geforce guy, so I'm a bit new with ATIs. I've installed the latest driver for it, but the video card name only show up as "Radeon 9600 Series". Is it suppose to show that? How can I distinguish if I have a SE/NP/Pro/XT?

I feel like a noob
