Refurb Celery 400 system for $249 ($150 for Florida residents)

sorry, only 1% of celery 400s can run on a 100mhz bus

you might be able to get 450mhz outta it with a 75mhz bus (if the board supports it), if you ask me it's not worth it, although that is about 10% faster . .

doesn't matter now anyway, they're all out 🙁 🙁

NICkel,

I ordered 1 for my daughter's 2nd grade class. I was hoping to order another for the kids at home. I hope we get it, because my wife will kill me if she finds out that I blew this deal by blabbing it!

We are a little concerned, because we were originally told that it would ship within a week, with a confirmation email. It has been over a week without a peep from myfavoritepc.

The first time I saw the topic of this thread "Refurb Celery 400..." I said to myself "WTF?". I grew up on a celery farm in Michigan and it took me a second to realize what was being talked about here. The only "refurb celery" we had on the farm was called compost. 🙂

Lori "I know, I know, ya'll were talking about Celerons"

I gave this information to my friend who was looking to get a computer for his other friend and he was a bit turned off. Anyone here read the user 'agreement' ?. He read it and they said something about placing a cookie on your machine, and something else about how myfavoritepc will sell your information to others. I didnt read the user agreement myself, so this is coming from a third party.

I bet the cookie is on the Win98 SE/Recovery CD they give you. So maybe a solution would be to install your own OS instead of using the CD

It just says you have to accept cookies while on the site - in order to complete the ordering of the computer:

Eeks' rule should apply to all hot deals. I can't think of how many hot deals we've lost because of little bitches.

Mark

P.S. They have no listed phone number

P.S.S. I sure hope they ship soon

I e-mailed Customer Service earlier today, and got a response back within an hour. They told me it would ship by the end of this week.

When do these $50 rebates expire, anyway?

OK.
If you do purchase one of these POS's go out and buy a brand name modem for it. I fix these damned things and nine times out of ten the modem craps out. F--kin' AMR modems. AAAHHHHHHHHHH.
Also a 145watt power supply is not going to allow you to add sh!t to the thing.

Good luck finding a bigger power supply since the mounting space is to small to accommodate anything other than what it comes with.

SAVE YOUR MONEY

mclori,

yep, they are a product of winbook (love their laptops), and micro electronics. i have heard that winbook handles the calls when someone really needs to get through. so far they seem pretty quick with email.

yellowperil,

i haven't seen anything to indicate there is an expiration. the rebate form is supposed to be included in the box.

jeffrylebowski,

thanks for the heads up. personally i don't care if they leave the modem out, this one is going to my daughter's 2nd grade class. we just need for it to run educational games. i'll be satisfied if it does that for a year.

Uh oh guys ....I just called my credit card company , and they said that nothing had been charged to my credit card in the last 2 months . So I guess I don't have a computer headed to my sisters in Florida after all . You might want to check yours , too .

Relax everybody. I got in about halfway through this thread (ordered on the 13th I think) and I'm in Florida, and I just got shipping confirmation from them with a FedEx tracking # etc. I don't have a charge on my CC yet either, but looks like this deal is good.

Unfortunately I have bad deal timing! I ordered a 13 gig drive from amazon to go with it, and the computer is going to beat it here by days! DOH!

I called winbook today and nobody would answer my questions. They were quite rude, but I didn't say anything. They said to inquire via email.

Mark

We emailed them again, response was "it will ship as early as friday". What does that mean?

Anyway, they now have the new 466 with 8.4GB hard drive for $299 + $30 shipping. 1 year warranty. Add $99 for 3 year.

Hey all I just wanted to let you know that I got my system today - powered it up, it is really pretty decent. Normal MicroATX case, standard floppy and CDRom. (none of that "special faceplate" garbage) Booted fine, will put linux on it next week and see if it's up to the challenge. But overall, especially for us Florida folks, it was definitely a hot deal! The motherboard and power supply are the only two components I'm suspcious of, but I have a backup MATX board ready to go just in case something happens, so this is going to make a good linux server!

(Now Georgia Tech's performance on ESPN tonight.. not a hot deal. <sigh>)
