I ordered this last week (before the $5 coupon).

Please note that you get NO accessories whatsoever. Not even an I/O shield. As noted on the page, you can call ASUS (510-739-3777) and they'll send you one for free. If you want all the accessories, it's $25 + S/H.

I'm still waiting on my I/O Shield, but the mobo looks fine.

What is the manufacturer's warranty coverage on refurbs? I know it's 3 years on retail, but does this hold true on refurbs as well?

is there any real performance increase with this older sli board where pcix16 slots run at x8 in sli mode and new one that runs x16 in sli mode?

Yeah I was in the same boat as many of you guys, waiting for an excuse to goto 939. I saw this on FW one morning, then I thought the new Venice/San Diego cores look nice, and pulled the trigger. Mine shipped the same day, could care less about accesories, just want an IO shield (also hoping for but not expecting the SLI bridge).

My question now is knowing this doesn't OC as well as the MSI or DFI, do I get the 3000/3200+ Venice and try my luck OCing, pay more to get the 3700+ San Diego and start off better or wait for the Opteron 144 Venus (and pray I can at least boot up to flash the BIOS for support if need be)?

I'm sure many of you guys are in the same boat - any thoughts? Were this deal for the LanParty, combined with the 3200+ Venice from EWIZ, this would have been super burning hot - still pretty good I suppose.

I didn't need another s939 motherboard, but seeing this, I just had to buy it. Even if it is OEM/refurbished, as long as nothing is wrong with it, it's definately 1 of the best deals of the year, up there with the EVGA 7800gt with free motherboard for $350 deal.

Since this is a refurb, I wonder if they have swapped out the noisy fan that plagued the early boards. ASUS was shipping new fans for free, but they are a pain to replace once the board is fully installed.

If you don't feel like calling their long distance phone number, then you can go to Asus' support website and fill out a form and request the I/O shield. I might be pushing my luck, but I also asked for the Sli Bridge on there as well.

I'm going to get the Zalman from Directron:
http://store.yahoo.com/directron/zmnb47j.html

I'll probably still call Asus to see about the fan and I/O shield.

Kind of on the same note, since I'm really (really) new to this, I was wondering what processor would go best with this, between the 3000 and the 3200 Venice. From what I'm reading here, I guess this motherboard isn't the best for OCing, so I'll do little to no OCing, probably.

Thanks for the help, guys, and sorry that my first post has to be a question like this. But, I'll get my ass in gear and post a real deal when I find one.

Well its always your mileage may vary, but the consensous is ~250 on the HT bus. A select few have gotten near or to 300 HT

Keep in mind this board got a lot of bad hoopla thanks to the 250HT issue. This is still a good OC'ing board, you just can't run the RAM 1:1 if you're going over 250. Mine won't run RAM at 1T over 245'ish, but if I use dividers it will run HTT well up to around 305 or so, just gotta keep the ram at or below the 250 mark.

I have Corsair Value RAM, so that's a given :p - for others it may be an issue. Of course these are refurbs and might not be the best of crop.

Mine shipped -- Friday (same day as order). It's on it's way.

I asked in a thread in the Motherboards forum about using a old (unused) Enermax EG651P... EPS12V power supply with this. IT also has the ATX-GES (AMD) adapter - it's missing the EPX to ATX 20pin adapter, but this motherboard says it's ATX12V V2.0 ie 24pin. At least one person said they're using an EPS power supply with this board. Anyone can confirm I should be able to do this? I'd love to out this old unused power supply to good use instead of it sitting and collecting dust.
