I would have a serious problem if Newegg demanded I pay return shipping on a defective product they sent me. I seriously question a vendor that has been repeatedly cited for selling defective "refurbs", which gives the appearance that they simply attempt to resell their defective returns (at your expense) versus taking the hit for RMAing defective equipment back to the manufacturer.
Personally, if Newegg refused to pay for return shipping on a defective item - regardless of whether the item was purchased as new or refurbished - I would dispute the charge with my credit card issuer. After Newegg begins to take repeated "hits" from charge-back charges (which are usually more than the cost of return shipping), they will likely change their return "policy" on defective items they resold as fully functional refurbished items. Its one thing that refurbished items may be missing cables, brackets, documentation, etc. - its a far different situation when the item ships is defective/DOA.
