(Refurb) 500GB Seagate 7200.11 SATA 3.5" Hard Drive $29 + shipping @ Newegg

Newegg has a recertified 500 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3500620AS 500GB 7200 RPM 3.5" Internal Hard Drive on sale for $28.99. Shipping shows as $7.28 for me. It will be cheaper per drive if you buy more than one and/or with other items.

To pre-empt some complaints about this drive being a refurb, I will mention some cases where it is not an issue:

1) An HTPC;
2) File swapping;
3) A budget/children's/extra PC.

The 7200.11 had major firmware issues that killed the drives prematurely.
Nothing wrong with the platters or mechanics. It was all in the electronics.
Even new drives were pulled from new PC's before they could be sold.
The firmware has been corrected, which is why these are out there in large quantities.
No problem with the new firmware. The drive might even be unused.

I saw this this morning but once I was looking around you can get brand new 500GB for $40 or so shipped using a simple $15 off coupon code. So really the refurb deal wasn't worth it to me.

The $40 WD deal is still on until 9/30 with a different promo code (EMCYXNR27). I just picked up one for someone whose Seagate is failing. Considering that my OP was for a Seagate, it is ironic, I guess.
