refund at newegg w/o tax refunded legal?

Hi, I order a lot of things from newegg. I rarely ever have to return things. But the last two item that I have returned, they refund the full cost of the item but they do not refund the tax? As far as I know, every vendor (online/b&m) I have returned things to refund the tax paid on the item as well. I am just wondering if there is a legitimate reason I am not aware of for this practice. Either way, I am have always been a satisfied newegg customer.
thanks for the response.

Platinum321, it's not legal to keep tax money on a returned item so give newegg a call. However, S&H isn't always refundable, it depends on the store, perhaps they withheld the S&H charge when they refunded you money?

i know that newegg does have a restocking fee. are you sure the amount taken out is not taxes but for restocking?

I just had a refund and they did not include the tax on the refund. I had to call to get the tax refunded. total BS.

This happened to me at a local Walmart B&M. Gave me some excuse that if it was in a different calendar month, that they couldn't refund tax. Sketchy as all heck.

I can't see the bottom part of your pic. I see something purchased for $109.99 - $5 promo, and a refund for $104.99.

What's missing?

Edit: I see it now. Yeah, that's really sketch.

That's really messed up... I have to assume that they do this crap ALL THE TIME counting on the fact that a certain percentage will just let it go.

Not really a surprise after the Gamers Nexus RMA debacle awhile back.... Newegg is apparently no longer a trustworthy company.

What a shame.... I think I've made my LAST purchase at there. 🙁
