Personally I like dedicated refridgerator and decdicated upright freezer. But if that is because I have 5 people living in my house. Sided by side would be your best bet since it's only you & Skoorbie but when your family gets bigger definately get separate ones.

Cheers,
Aquaman

We have an Amana with the freezer on the bottom, it's better any other forms. The refridgerator is on the top, so it's easier to use and see, since you use the fridge part most often.

Top and bottom, with the freezer at the bottom.

Same here, an Amana with the freezer at the bottom. Totally rocks.)

I like my side by side.. 12 years since it was new and if I was buying another fridge tomorrow I would probably buy another one (since I don't have room for one of each.. that sounds wonderful!). but you do give up a lot of room in the freezer part, with the ice maker and the water out the door.. and once in a while I do wish I could put a frozen pizza in the freezer. a smallish freezer in the garage (or even another whole fridge out there.. I probably would pick top/bottom for a spare..), that'd be perfect.

I disagree. The top freezer is always nighmare to work with. Things just get piled up on top of each other. The side by side is better because you have more shelves to work with

But, if the freezer is on the bottom, you have pull out trays that help you organize ;)

We have a side by side. Looks better and we use the water/ice dispenser always. People still make their ice cubes in trays?!

But we do have our older top bottom in our garage.

Both fridges are always packed. Make good use of them.

Refrigerator on top...and Freezer on the bottom is the best! Now they have a fridge where there are two doors (side by side) on the top, and then the freezer on the bottom.

I definitely like side by sides better than top and bottoms. I have a top and bottom combo right now and it's a pain. I grew up with side by sides and I'm sure that has something to do with it. For me the top and bottom combo just doesn't have enough space in the freezer. My freezer is packed and I barely have anything in it.

Side by side>top and bottom

while side to side have a certain appeal, its not rational.

top/bottom is more efficient, esp with freezer on bottom. theres more usable/cramable space to boot.

Hell just spend the extra money to have a room in your house converted to a fridge.

My parents have a 28-year old Kenmore top-bottom fridge/freezer. I like it, but since I've moved out, I now have a side-by-side Whirlpool. I absolutely LOVE the ice/water in door.

I always thought that a bottom freezer was the most efficient setup.

Top mounted freezers are the most efficient, since cold air sinks. This means that air used to cool the freezer does double duty for the refrigerator compartment below.

I prefer the side by side, because you...can get the built in ice/water dispenser.
I really like side-by-sides...Big plus if they have ice & water in the door.
plus I wanted a water and ice dispenser and those only come on side by sides
side by side...The ice and water thingy in the door is nice though

Please people stop spreading these silly lies! Top and bottom have the in door water/ice dispenser as well. One of many examples. Often the other top/bottom ones have water in the inside of the door as well and you probably pass right by without knowing it (but I think that would be less convenient myself). However I had to point out that top and bottoms DO have through the door ice and water as well.
