refresh rates with a LCD monitor

does refresh rate make ANY difference with LCD monitors.

i have a NEC 1760LCD and i have 60-75Hz.

i did notice that the screen appears to have sharper text at 60Hz rather than 75Hz. its harder to fine tune all the pixels at 75Hz.

when my refresh rate is at 60Hz i get lower 3dmark scores which is really odd.

what should i set the refresh rate to? 60 or 75?

is there any reason for running at 60Hz?

my v-sync is set to default off....should i just turn it off altogether?

does v-sync really help anything if my res is set to 1024x1280 all the time?

You said it looked better at 60hz. Isn't that reason enough. Most lcds look better at 60hz.

For benchmarking, yes. Check to see if it is turned off in D3D and OpenGL, and not just one of them.

I like v-sync. If you play games where you get over 60fps, v-sync might be a good idea if you don't like tearing.

thats strange, i wonder why they even bother giving you higher refresh rates like 70 or 75Hz when 60 is optimal???

Higher refresh rates are for CRT, 60 refresh rates are the norms for lcds, if you use 60 for CRT's, you'll have a headache, not with lcd's though

yea, set it at 60. I run my LCD @ 1920x1200 on mine at something like ~55Hz and you can't tell unless you have a really fast movie playing
