Just reformatted the pc to have a nice fresh install. I installed the latest ati drivers with the .net framework and it only would detect the monitor as default monitor and even though everything is set to 100hz and forced to 100hz the desktop still is running at 60hz. This is on a Samsung 900NF crt and 9700pro video card.

Never had any issue before this, usually I could just force it to 100hz without using any third party programs.

Can't get it to work with the newest omega drivers either.
 
Well, you can probably get proper .INF files for the monitor from Samsung's website.

You should also be able to force the refresh rate up in CCC. Isn't there a custom resolution/refresh option?
 
Tried using some older drivers? I ended up having to use some older drivers with my X700, because the latest drivers were giving me nothing but trouble(my ATI tv tuner would work, CCC was crashing(CLI.EXE always crashed). TV out was coming out black and white only. Went back to older drivers, all is good.
 
Ive tried the drivers from samsungs website and it has the same issue. Under DDC Information it says Not Supported and because of this I cannot use Refresh Rate Override. I don't get why it suddenly doesn't support DDC.

Its the same way with microsofts drivers and with plug and play.

You should be able to override it even if there is no DDC info. There should be a "hide modes this monitor cannot display" option -- make sure it is unchecked.

You should be able to override it even if there is no DDC info. There should be a "hide modes this monitor cannot display" option -- make sure it is unchecked.

Under Monitor tab it says Samsung 900NF.. and its showing the refresh rates properly. I have it set for 100Hz. But this does nothing, its still at 60hz. Then I go to Displays>Monitor I set my maximum res to 1600x1200 and my max refresh to 100 Hz. My only options for Refresh Rate Override are Same as desktop and then up to 60Hz. None of them do anything.
 
I set my maximum res to 1600x1200 and my max refresh to 100 Hz.

Make sure you set each to the maximum that is supported by your monitor seperately. For the 900NF that would be 1920x1440 and 160Hz for each, rather than what you set it to. (according to Samsung's site)

That should allow you to get your correct refresh for the resolution you want to run at (unchecking the DDC support)

Well ive been running at 100hz at 1280x1024 for like 2 years so id say it supports it. Doesn't matter though, if I lower it to 70hz it still doesn't set it to 70hz. I should be able to use Refresh Rate Override but its only letting me set up to 60hz.. I don't get it.

Wtf.. I changed the max res to 1280x1024 at 100hz and now its working at 100hz on the desktop. I never had to do that before? Ok now I installed the samsung monitor driver over the plug and play and now it lets me use refresh override... weirdest ****** ever.

Really, the numbers you should be entering for your monitor are: (unchecking Use EDID in CCC)

*1920x1440 for maximum resolution
*160Hz for Maximum refresh rate.

That way you'll get the proper results for whatever settings you choose provided the monitor supports it. I've had to do this myself when using BNC cables as they don't support DDC.

Ahh that must be why its not supporting DDC. This monitor has BNC cables.
