We’re currently investigating an issue related to the forum theme and styling that is impacting page layout and visual formatting. The problem has been identified, and we are actively working on a resolution. There is no impact to user data or functionality, this is strictly a front-end display issue. We’ll post an update once the fix has been deployed. Thanks for your patience while we get this sorted.
Doubt its the refresh rate, given that low refresh rates with LCDs is not responsible for eyestrain. Did you get the SXGA+ screen? Maybe your eye can't handle the high-resolution display.

I got the XGA which is currently running 1024x768.
My desktop CRT is running at 1024x768 too but with a refresh rate of 85Hz. My eyes flicker a good 20 to 30 minutes before it stops when I use my laptop.
