Some of you may recall my thread about trying to get to 200lbs by doing spin AKA cycle classes. I'm a little under 230 and well on my way. (I didn't gain any weight over the holidays :p)

Yesterday I was at the gym doing weights and then a spin class. Afterwards an instructor invited me to try reformer pilates. The reformer machine is what seperates it from mat pilates and it looks like some sort of contortionist torture device.

I started out by checking out the resistance springs and was pretty amazed at how much of workout it was. It's definately a core type exercise, but I do feel it today all over my body. You have to be relatively flexible to do a lot of the moves as well.

If you're gym has reformer pilates you might want to check it out. I'll probably end up doing it once or twice a week for flexibility and core work.
