Reformatting Win XP question

I am planning to reformat my C: partion which has my OS on it, but I have multiple partitions on my hard drives. On my D: Drive I have all of my games, UT2004, FarCry, etc.
When I format and reinstall XP, do I have to uninstall and reinstall all of the games since all of the short cuts and registry entries will be gone, or can I just go into windows explorer and run the executable?
Any other things I need to look for before reformatting?
Thanks for all the help,
Shoe

you'll need to reinstall the games. Make sure that you have backed up any mails/documents/favourites etc before reformatting.

You could export the registry entries for the programs and then import them into the new install if you REALLY wanted to, but that would probably be more work than just making a backup copy of all your savegame files and reinstalling them.
