Reformat the Hard Drive, save the program.....

program on my computer that is not made anymore. I have a legal purchased copy, however for one reason or another it says it can't be installed again. I have reformatted several times then just re-installed it from the original disc when I loaded all my programs back on. I found out that it could not be reinstalled any more when I tried to install it on my other computer to make sure it worked and it did not. So right now I have not yet reformatted the first computer. Is there any way to do this? If I posted this in the wrong room I am sorry. Please LMK where it should go. TIA for the help. -Mike

I doubt you will get this to work... Even if you copied the registry files that were associated with the program.

Even though the software is not made, does the company who made it still exist? You could call them and see what you need to do to get this carried over.

If by "product activation" you mean it connects to the company's server to check my product key and password then yes. Are you guys telling me this can't be done?

*DING DING DING* That's your problem right there. Obviously, the company no longer allows you to install the software to your hardware. You have to contact the company and tell them your situation and see if they can get around it; or they might offer you a new activation code.
