I have a printout from Jan 4th of 1999 where the team stats were:

Current ranking: 400 (up 53 from previous day)
Total blocks: 1,036,029
Overall Rate: 7365 kkeys/sec


104296 blocks were completed yesterday (.00015177% of the keyspace) at a sustained rate of 324036 kkeys/sec!


Quite a dump in it's day.

I joined... ah, today. I'm running a P2-400 dual-booting Win98/Linux machine with RC5 clients for each. I plan to let it do the cracking under Linux when I'm not around because if I Ctrl-Alt-F4 to a text mode prompt, no one in my family can figure out how to snoop on my computer.

However, for some reason, it is down at the moment, so, as soon as that gets resolved, point the client towards it! (BTW - this is the first time this has happened in a LONG time....its not a common occurance).

April of '99 was when I found this wonderful passtime. I seem to remember that we were in 29th or 28th place at the time, but in my old age I could be mistaken.

funny you should bring up what place we were in when we started. Because I am about to &quot;celebrate&quot; 1 year of doing Rc5, Started July 10th 1999. Started collecting stats July 21st. We were 9th place. The stats that day for us (and all the teams ahead of us) were as follows:

January 3rd, 1999, is when I joined. Man was that a long time ago, I never started coming to the forums until just before they switched interfaces. AHh, the memories.

Hutch, was it really 400th position? it seamed like we were in the top 100 when I joined. but maybe not.

Yeah, I just looked at my submission history, never submitted more than 100 blocks a day reguraly until 3 months after I joined, boy was that useful.

P.S: My original AMD-k6 200@210 is back to cracking sparingly, after being retired for a year.

We were in the top 100 daily then, but not overall. To give you some perspective, we were only at #67 overall (up 2) on Feb. 15th 1999.
