Why not hook all the poor up to a big machine that makes them think they live rich, wonderful lives in a machine-created, virtual world. Also, the machine uses them to make energy (combined with a form of fusion of course). Of course, every once in a while the equation would be unbalanced, producing a poor, trailer trash "One" who could control the virtual world, but he'd likely just use his powers to get more beer and watch Springer 24/7.

Its rather ineffective. Hard to enforce, you know?

A much better solution would be to kill the poor, underpriviledged, homeless, insane, crippled and any other undesirable. You reduce social spending, solve the poverty and homelessness problem and clean up downtown centres, all in one go!

you're an idiot. do you realize how many basic human rights are being violated by your suggestions?

Getting free money for doing nothing is not a basic human right either.
Exactly. You don't want the injection? Fine but you don't get the money either.

Yeah, where in the basic human rights list does it ensure free money to irresponsible people?

How are they irresonsible? Maybe they got laid off, fired, or their company went bankrupt. Not everyone chooses to be poor. Not everyone remains poor their entire life. IF we are to do anything, help them find a job and give them encouragement.

I know some choose not to do anything and for those there is no help. Just don't be so quick to judge people that are down on their luck. We have seen it happen to even our own folks here on AT. Think before you speak.

So why not inject birth control to all the women of child bearing age? If you don't get an injection, then no $ for you. And no, i'm not sexist. If there was a male birth control, then force it on them too. but there isn't one that u can inject and last for months. hm..tie the tubes and vasectomies is an idea. but they're only reversible for a time. Right to bear children? HA! If you can't afford to take care of yourself w/o handouts, then you should be banned from having children! Your thoughts?

C'mon, this has to be a troll. No one is *really* that stupid

How about businessmen and farmers who are getting government subsidies and corporate welfare?
If you're on corporate welfare, odds are that your children will also be on corporate welfare when they grow up. It's a never ending cycle. ;)

Hey, I agree with the guy. Although I'd limit it to folks on welfare for more than, say, 6 months. Short term welfare and unemployment money would be completely seperate. You want free long term government money for nothing, then you agree to the terms. No babies for you!

as much as some abuse the system, many need it.

This is part of america...if you feel lessened by paying into it, make more or move away.

Having the right to procreate is not based on income or status.

This is so anti-american it's pathetic.

Children Requiring a Caring Community
  • The program is completely voluntary for participants. The participants, male and female, receive $200 for choosing to use long-term or permanent birth control.

Most participants who choose permanent birth control are those who have already had far more children than most people have in a lifetime.

Let me clarify, I have no problem with assistance to people who need it for period of time. The issue lies with people who abuse indefinitely it instead of using it to "get back in the game". The eternal moochers are the ones that I consider irresponsible because they see it as a right not to work if they dont want to.

Do you think a responsible person would want to have a child if they knew that they couldn't support it? You hear (daily) of people having more children to increase their welfare checks. Irresponsible.

Americans would not be told they couldn't procreate, they would be given the choice. At any time if they wanted to have a child, just stop taking welfare.

Think about it, it makes perfect sense. If you sterilize people, you may inadvertently prevent the birth of the next Einstein. Let the kids grow up and then ascertain whether they're smart or whether they're like JEDI and then cull the herd accordingly.

what's wrong with having to make that choice? why should i be paying to give these people the luxury of having both of those things?
