I am hearing copious amounts of noise from my sound card. Now that I am using a better sound setup with my PC, the noise is more noticable than ever. I am using a cheap sound card (Ensonic AudioPCI).

I was trying to find ways of reducing the noise I hear. My current thought is to wrap the sound card in a big sheet of metal to use as a ground shield. Will this help? Or should I just save up for a card with digital out and get a receiver with digital in?

try to go to the sound control in windows and lowering the master volume while using the volume controls on your speakers exclusively...keep wave out volume high

My MX300 exhibits strange noises whenever accessing the hard drives, inserting CDROMs, moving the mouse, and clicking the mouse. It is quite annoying. I feel your pain.

like mentioned, lowering the master volume is your best bet.. that should do it.

Actually, when I got home today the noise is not there. I think I have it isolated to my CD-ROM drive. I think when a drive is spun up the noise is there. Otherwise, the noise level is indiscernable from the regular amplifier noise (which is quite a bit... AIWA sucks).

Good thing I am upgrading soon :)
