reducing CPU temp

Ok, here's the deal. I'd like to run my processor a little cooler. Specs:

AMD XP2600+ 333 MHz FSB 2.081 GHz
512 MB Crucial PC2700 DDRRAM
Unichrome integrated, shared graphics (64 MB allocated)
MSI K4MM-L mobo
Cooler Master "Phuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!" fan (generic)

Is there any way of decreasing CPU temperature without spending any money, and how cool is 58 degrees C under average load?

Thanks in advance.

Question: Why do you want it to run cooler?

AMD guarantees their cpu's are good up to 85 degrees C. 58 is WELL within spec... so until it starts smoking or crashing, don't worry about it.

I just get a little worried when I'm rendering in Terragen and a 640x480 image with max detail brings the cpu temperature up 6 degrees C.

If you don't mind cutting a hole in your side panel, a duct will lower your temps dramatically. I used a 4.5" dia. piece of pvc pipe.
I also agree with the above posts. I think your temps are fine.
