What do you guys think about this?

Its a Fuel System Cleaner, supposed to be one of the best.

The guys at Bobistheoil guy use them, so I guess they work? I mean I always thought these things were just fancy crap snake oil.

Gas fuel cleaners do not really work for what they say they do. Gas has had to have cleaners for a while now and even then the studff that would clean the inside of your motor would eat seals up if it was strong enough. Hint: its not that strong

I have broken down many motors and then only ones that had any major build up in the engine were the ones that had badly blown gaskets and such. Ones I tore down for performance rebuild or other non-issues were pretty clean without things added to gas.

If you really want to clean the engine inside use Carb cleaner spraied into the enigne intake. Make sure its the intake AT the engine, not the intake at the air filter. With F/I the little, and I mean little, cleaner you add to the gas come out the F/I which miss's all the top intake.

Fuel from any reputable supplier has all the cleaning agents you need.

Unless there is a specific reason to suspect that your fuel system or fuel injectors are dirty, there's no need to add cleaners to your fuel.

I would agree, but then what is this Top Tier Gasoline companies?

The Redline Si-1 has like 40% of polyether amines (PEA) which is the thing that suppose to clean the best. I have been using cheap gas, non top tier 7-Eleven/Citgo which has 10% ethanol in them. While the Top tiers have none and have 4 times the detergents then the non top tired gas companies.

So idk. Cant Hurt?

The only correct way to clean injectors for sure:

No experience with the fuel cleaners in a can to know if they do anything or if they are snake oil, but think about how good of a solvent gasoline is just by itself.

On the other hand, several professional mechanics I know including my father swear it's effective and have reliably solved many rough running fuel related issues with nothing more than running a can of fuel injector cleaner poured into the gas tank (brand unknown) so there is supporting evidence that it's not just snake oil.

Where did you hear that Top Tier gas has no ethanol in it?

Because, hate to break it to you, but I do know for a fact Chevron, the first refiner/gas given "Top Tier" designation, has ethanol in it....up to 10%, like every other gas.

And in fact, ethanol is allowed in "top tier" gas....up to 10%.

From the "Top Tier" website:

1.3.1.2 Base Fuel.
The base fuel shall conform to ASTM D 4814 and shall contain commercial fuel grade ethanol conforming to ASTM D 4806. All gasoline blend stocks used to formulate the base fuel shall be representative of normal U.S. refinery operations and shall be derived from conversion units downstream of distillation. Butanes and pentanes are allowed for vapor pressure adjustment. The use of chemical streams is prohibited. The base fuel shall have the following specific properties after the addition of ethanol:
  1. Contain enough denatured ethanol such that the actual ethanol content is no less than 8.0 and no more than 10.0 volume percent.
Sounds like Top Tier gas has ethanol in it, doesn't it? In fact, it's required.

Fuel should not be getting into any place with seals in any significant quantity to begin with (eg: crank case). The fuel system is already designed for that abusive environment (nitrile rubber o rings, etc) and there aren't any seals to speak of between the valves, combustion chamber, and exhaust other than the valve seals which aren't really exposed to it.

You aren't cleaning the inside of the motor, just the fuel lines and injectors.

An occasional dose of Seafoam or similar can't hurt, particularly if the vehicle sits a lot such as many project or toy cars do. I do this on my motorcycles and have experienced good results cleaning out carb gumming after storage. I wouldn't waste money on this kind of stuff on a regularly driven vehicle though.

ha nvm then I thought they did not have 10% in it. :O

Most gasoline companies have been running 10% ethanol all over the US since the '70s and people had no idea. Only recently has it become a law that the companies must inform the buyer with the sticker on the pump, naturally people think it's a new thing. 🙂

Shell, Chevron, etc. have all been doing it for years.
