Redhat Linux 6.0 Setup

Hey all! 🙂

Does anyone know of any links that could help me set up redhat linux 6.0? I've read through the docs and they don't really make sense, and i'm unsure of what information i need and what i don't need etc.
If anyone could help me out of this it would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Thanks

You might want to look through http://www.redhat.com but I doubt that they still have information lying around. The best docs that you will find are probably on the cd.

The textbased installation of 6.0 isn't the easiest but is working great though.

If you have any specific questions regarding the install you are welcome to ask in here 🙂

I would suggest you really dump redhat 6.0 and get redhat 7.1... its a giant leap ahead... much more than a simple version upgrade... and most software out there you would want to run will be for 7.1

There's this book "Linux installation, configuration, use" by Michael Kofler that's focused on RH6.0 and includes it in the CDs in the back of the book. Also an O'Reilly book about RH Linux. Of the two I'd recommend the Kofler book. The O'Reilly book is hmmmm very superficial. Although the Running Linux book by O'Reilly is good. In any case, unless you have a compelling reason not to, I think that advice about getting 7.1 is right on. 7.1 is much nicer. The books, by the way, apply to either edition, so if you happen to run across them you might give them a try. Good luck.

Ok fellas, thanks.

I'll see about getting RH7.1
The reason i went for 6.0 is because that was what my brother had in his cupboard, so yeah 🙂

Also, i'll get one of those books if i have the money, cparker.
Thanks 🙂
