RedHat 9 mouse problems

Hi all...
I decided to explore the world of linux.. tried out many distros and Redhat seems to be my favorite thus far, and easiest to use.... Then i reboot my computer, and the mouse stops to move everywhere, its impossible to control it... it jumps around and automatically click to where ever it wants to.. so i decided to reinstall RedHat9 again, formated the hard drive and installed the distro.. after i downloaded and installed firefox and java, i decided to reboot it, and again the mouse problems came back...
Redhat 9 is installed on an IBM t-20 laptop... it runs really smooth, and pretty quick...
can anyone help me solve this mouse problem.. plz

do you have a mouse plugged in or are you using the laptops touch pad? i had the same problem with one of my old redhat 9 machines, all i needed to do was use a different mouse. if youre using the touchpad see if you can disable it and just plug a standard 2 button mouse into your ps-2 port.

i ran into the problem when i switched from a 2 button to a scroll mouse and ignored the hardware configuration screen during boot up. oops
