Hello.

I recently installed a new mobo and now redhat will not boot. I get this error:

<0>Kernel Panic: Attempted to kill init!

I then tried to reinstall via cd rom install boot. After the initial screen asking which way to start the install (ie GUI, or text mode, etc), the same error came up.

How can I fix this? Im assuming its because of the new hardware, but it wont even let me reinstall?

Thanks for any suggestions.

That error is pretty generic - there should be something else before that that will give us some clues.

Well, hpt_366 is a Highpoint raid controller. Got one of those? Is the drive you're installing to on an array or a regular channel? I believe you can install RH to an array, but you need a driver disk of some sort at boot time.

Yes this new motherboard has on board RAID. Does that matter? The HD's are both connected to the normal IDE connections and not the Raid. Perhaps if I go in BIOS and disable RAID?
