I love Redbox and am a big fan of it.

We just got Netflix a couple of months ago, and the only thing that pisses me off about it is that we did not get it sooner.

This shit rocks.

We have the one DVD out cheapo plan, but it works great for us. We do not watch much on DVD and where we get the awesome value for our dollar is the streaming we can do via the PS3.

I think Redbox is a great supplement to Netflix to be able to get that instant need for watching some new release. I see them as compatible with each other, not one supplanting the other.

I agree...for only $1 extra per movie, it was a great add-on for new releases. With higher prices, I'd be spending more on redbox movies per month than netflix, and netflix will start looking like the supplement.

I couldn't care less.

:cookie:

good for you.

I get to drive to one shopping center, on my way to work, or home from work, that has 9 redbox kiosk's in it...

If one machine doesn't have it.. i walk .. 3 feet to the right or left, to the other kiosk.. and it has it.

I pay $1 .. go home.. watch the movie... go to sleep.. wake up.. drive past the same shopping center either on my way to work, or way home from work.. spend 10 seconds depositing the dvd into their slot.. and go on my way.

and... redbox isn't 24hours... it's by 9pm the next day.

so if you rent it at 7am.. you dont have to return it until 9pm the NEXT DAY.

I had about 30 coupons for free redbox rentals, from when McD's was giving one away with a Value Meal purchase. I went to one McD's ... purchased one value meal... and the cashier handed me like 40 coupons.

i used all but 3.

Fuckin A. Nothing beats Columbo on demand. It would be great if they had Jeremy Brett's Holmes and Suchet's Poirot. I don't have Netflix anymore so I don't know what they have added since I last used it over a year ago.

They've gotten much better with the streaming content. I signed up just about a year ago, and one of the first things I did was look at the streaming line-up. I was sure that I would drop the deal within a few months, but they started adding some good stuff to the streams. Now my wife and I are watching all of Heroes Season 1. We just finished streaming all 5 past seasons of Lost in preparation for the new season coming up here. They've also added quite a few new movies to streaming. It can't be beat, IMO.

sometimes i just stand at my mail box for a while, pretending i am in a movie rental line, like the good old days

So on the days the postman doesn't bring movies, you just pretend all the good ones were sold out at the video store?

Not impressed by the redbox movie selections. Local libraries here have free dvds that are all big names and relatively recent.

Yay! I get to drive all over town so I can stand in a huge line only to find out they don't have the movie I want. And then if I do find it I have to haul ass back there before my 24 hours is up or I can pay an extra dollar.

Um.. Learn to use their website?

You can pull up a live inventory of nearly all Redbox kiosks near you and reserve any in-stock movie instantly. Return your rentals to any Redbox you like.

Can't be simpler than that. For only a buck... fitty! Love it!!

Exactly... redbox can go up to $4 a day and still beats blockbuster.

Unless blockbuster comes up with a REALLY cheap "daily" rate... redbox willl be better.

Within a mile from me, there's about 15 redbox locations. If one doesnt have the movie, one of the others will.

Where I live, they also have Blockbuster express kiosks which rent for the same $1 as Redbox. http://blockbusterexpress.com/ They seem to have a better selection of new movies but if they have real time inventory online I haven't found it and that's one feature of Redbox I really like.

Netflix is so much better. I was in a Jewel (Midwest's Albertson's) and there was a line of probably 15 people waiting to return and rent from one of these.

Except that Netflix and Time Warner struck a deal, giving perks to Netflix if they hold new release movies for 28 days after they release, before allowing subscribers to receive them.

Yeh, netflix is awesome..... not. Supposedly it's to make people want to buy these new releases instead of renting them. All it's made us do is drop our 4 movie netflix subscription down to 2 movies. And get our new releases from Red Box.

Love Redbox. I reserve them online and pick them up whenever. There are tons around here.
I think I've paid for a movie twice since I'e been using them due to the codes they send me quite often.

Or I can pay $4/mo to Blockbuster online and get 2 DVDs or blurays a month and not have to drive anywhere. Hmmm.

Hell, my wife has had a coupon for five free redbox rentals for almost a month and I think I've used one because their selection is such garbage. I believe it expires pretty soon, and I couldn't care less.

People actually use the BB online service?

I loved RB when it first came out but now its selection is comically bad, just really, really awful. They get no new releases and when they do they get them about six years after it hits DVD. I barely bother to check it out nowadays.

Meh, even if I only watch 12 movies a month, it's like $1.75 a movie. That $0.25 to $0.75 per rental is definitely worth it to me:
- Don't have to drive to a store, park, walk in, wait in line, etc.
- Don't have to worry about getting the movie back in the next day
- Can get older movies
- Can get television shows
- Streaming

12 movies a month? That's quite a lot of movies. By the time I cancelled my Blockbuster online, I was down at a pace of about 2 movies a month. Redbox was definitely worth it since I have one in my supermarket and just go pick one up when I go shopping for food.

Meh, that's about one round a week on the 3 out at a time plan.

I really want to like Redbox but everytime I've tried to get a movie from them it's all crap B list movies that I wouldn't watch if you paid me $1 (or $1.50). I like the concept but their selection is crap.

Honestly if I was dying to see something that badly I'd had seen it in theaters. What I'd like to see is more streaming.
