Ughhh. I guess it's good Detroit didn't deal Joseph, but this SUCKS.

I almost hope Legace starts now.

wingznut, mpitts, what do you guys think?

I think the Wings can win with either CuJo or Legace. When the Wings do get scored on, 99%+ of the time it's not the goalie's fault. CuJo has won a few games for them already... And kept them in several more (as in the most recent Colorado game.)

Hey, just ask the people in Buffalo. There were a lot of times that he was "done for the season". Some injuries - real, some, well ... real phantoms.

At least Hatcher will be back soon. Nothing better to help goal prevention than adding a Norris-calibre defenseman right at the deadline. In a sense, anyway. :)

Kronwall should be back about the same time... In case they need any more insurance on the blue line. (If nothing else, it'll keep Dandenault from playing D. ;) )

Truer words have never been spoken.

Anyone, or anything, that keeps Dandenawful off the blueline, is obviously for the better.

I still have nightmares of the Sergei Berezin/Dandenault "scoop" incident. :(

A few seasons back... the Wings were playing the Leafs, Dandenault "playing" defense then. Sergei Berezin, who has(had?) tremendous puck skills, carried the puck through the neutral zone, moving towards Dandenault. Dandenault was skating backwards right near the Red wings blue line, Berezin came right at him, put the puck through Dandenault's legs and walked around him. Dandenault, in an effort to defend this, BENT DOWN TOWARDS THE ICE, and tried to SCOOP THE PUCK WITH HIS HAND. He took his hand OFF his stick and tried to "scoop" at it. Berezin of course walked in on a partial breakaway and scored a goal. I almost threw up, I was so disgusted. I had never in my years of watching hockey seen anything like it. I didn't like him at this point to begin with, but this was just more than I could handle.

Let's not forget that wonderful non-touch up of the puck in the playoffs, too. Another of his shining moments.

I don't remember that at all. I do, however, remember the "non-touch up" incident.

Whatever happened to Berezin, anyway? Why is he not playing this year?

Painful is not even the word to describe that incident. I almost wish I had a video of it, although it could end up causing me to have an aneurysm from watching it.

I may be in the minority, but I am confident that CuJo can bring it home for the Wings.

I can tell you that, with all of the adversity that he faced this year, it will be the story of the year in the NHL if he can get the Wings to the Cup.

Once we get Hatcher back, our D will be better and they are already one of the best in the league without him. The Wings just need to get healthy and stay that way to make a serious run at the Cup.

Remember, Osgood won one in Detroit. I would say that the D-lines that the Wings will be able to throw out during the playoffs will be better than what was in front of Osgood in '98.

Damn! In what should help the Red Wings, Rob Blake is out indefinitely with a broken leg.

I very much agree with you. Not only that, but I believe that CuJo can steal a game or two in the playoffs.

The reason the Wings lost last year wasn't because of CuJo. I don't care who's in goal... If you only score 1.2 goals per game, you aren't going to win.

I'm not sure if Berezin got hurt or what. He had 9 points in 9 games for the Caps last year after they traded for him(23 goals overall), but nobody may have offered him a contract. He's always been labeled as somewhat lazy and enigmatic. He's probably in Russia playing. I can't seem to find any info on him though.

As far as the Wings, i think the key has to be getting and staying healthy, you're right. easier said than done, though. :(

What do you guys think about Detroit going after Alexei Zhamnov or Bobby Lang?

Wonder if either Washington or Chicago would take Dandenault. :p

DENVER (AP) - Colorado Avalanche defenceman Rob Blake has broken his left leg and will be out indefinitely.

Blake says he's not sure when it happened, but he thinks it may have been caused by a shot he stopped. The leg has been sore for a while and when he finally had it x-rayed the hairline fracture was discovered.

Can't say that I've really been keeping up this year, what with work and school and all, but that doesn't surprise nor worry me a whole lot...with a reserve like CuJo and Legace, you can't do much more, can you.

Dang, I guess I can drop Hasek from my Fantasy team. In other news I hope this help the Avs' chances. In other, other news the Blake deal doesn't help the Avs.

I wouldn't mind seeing them pick up Bondra or Lang. I don't think we need Gonchar and I am not too keen on Zhamnov.

If I could have any of those three I'd pick Gonchar............. with him quarterbacking the PP ........... watchout.
