Red plastic cups at parties?

So I noticed that at every party at someones house, they use red cups for the beer/alcohol.

Why red? Why not blue or white or foam or clear? Why ALWAYS red?

The red ones are the best. Cheap and durable.

I dunno, red seems to be the one they make the most of. That said, I went to plenty of parties that had other colors, I'm sure 90% of people jsut take the first one they see regardless of color, and if thats red then w/e.

Well... foam would suck for beer, it would probably make it taste bad.

And as far as plastic cups go, I don't see them even selling other colored cups normally.

In my experience the red plastic cups are the easiest to find. The foam ones are readily available, but tend to cost more. My grocery store rarely has the blue plastic cups.

The only time you see blue out in force is around 4th of July, at least that's true for where I live.

IIRC Solo makes blue cups that are 12oz, and the red are 16oz.

Red cups signal the opposite sex that you are to mate. It also serves as a warning to potential challengers.

I learned this just last weekend. It is better for the game called "Flippy Cup." Other cups (see thru plastic, foam, etc.) suck. Red cups are perfect to use for the game.

I could see how foam cups might suck, but the color (or transparency) of the plastic cups would make no difference in the game...
