shrimp in itself doesn't really cause your cholesterol to go up. the problem with cholesterol is when you consume it with saturated fats, which help your body absorb the cholesterol in your food. shrimp (broiled or boiled) tends to have very little saturated fat. on the other hand, if it's deep fried or fried in butter (like in shrimp scampi), then you're in trouble.

pfft...yeah right, something like 80% of their seafood comes from aquaculture, one reason why it tastes like crap.

PS, Gulf seafood is perfectly safe. I look forward to oysters at Drago's in 2 weeks! 🙂
