OK I will be the first to admit if I fuvked up. But I just got a ticket for, what it says, running a red light.

Now the funny, and BS part, is the first pic shows the Corvette at the intersection in the right lane with cars in the intersection. The 2nd photo shows no more corvette but there are still cars in the intersection. Its like either I went through the cars in the intersection like magic or maybe I turned right. WAIT, can you turn right on red. :light:

So of course you are guilty until you can prove other wise. So I have to mail in $50 and then I can appeal it. I then have to, on my time, go to them and plead that I was making a right on red? like their picture shows.

Needless to say I am REALLY pissed off. I am going to make some calls to the Cary NC police department and other places.

You have to stop first. Ticket is only $50? Not worth the effort.

I have heard on a radio show that:

Since there is a law that prohibit the police to use red light camera to capture the picture of the driver, they can only take picture of the license plate.
If you declare that you are not the driver that day, you can show up at court and the traffic violation will be dropped.

But making a right turn should be a good excuse, if picture showed your right blinker was on. Otherwise, they could charge you with turning without proper signal.
Did you do a "stop" before turning right? A lot of little things that the judge could pick on.

They can not give you a ticket for turning RIGHT in a right turn lane under red. Granted it does not say "no right on red" I did the same thing and got the red light camera pictures and ticket. Two weeks after that They sent in an apology letter in the mail saying it was a camera malfunction and they had to reinburish $$ to those who paid.

I came to a complete stop (picture shows be braking at the line from the back). Then it shows me taking the right turn under red.

Clearly, your car is in the position of making a right hand turn.....lol at your ticket.

Nope. It is a regular 4 way intersection. If NFS4, fbrdphreak, or any one else from the Raleigh area wants to chime in. The Cary Parkway and High House intersection has no sign that forbids a right on red. I thought that as well but I go through it all the time.

I would just return to the intersection to take pics that no such sign is present and provide that as evidence you are clearly doing nothing wrong.

I live in there area and can vouch for there being no sign that forbids right turn on red.
Just wondering if the camera is triggered by not making a complete stop. You can turn right on red, but you have to come to a complete stop first.

If there are points involved, it will end up costing a lot more than $50, once his insurance gets jacked. Definitely go to court.

AFAIK, I don't think they give you points for red light violations..

The pictures on the notice say "Vehicle Speed: 15 MPH"
If that's referring to the OP's car, it doesn't sound like he stopped.
