red laptop lcd?

i just got laptop from someone and the laptop screen is red?
I cannot seem to get rid of it..

can someone help??

it is sony vaio with NeoMagic MagicMedia video card..

is video card gone bad??

anyhelp will be good

oh yeah.. the output to the regular monior does NOT show red..
 
It's the video card or the LCD. They work using a white backlight and using the LCD to filter all colors except the one that is supposed to appear at each pixel. If you are seeing all red, the filter is stuck on displaying red and filtering everything else.

Not much help here, but I have never seen a whole LCD go red. I would start by checking all the cable connections for the LCD.
