Red Hat Linux on my 8KHA+ w/ promise raid HELP

Alright everyone, here's the project:

I'm trying to get RedHat 7.2 (the only linux distro with drivers for promise RAID) on my box, but I get errors before the install process really even gets started.

Setup:
I've got an EPOX 8KHA+ motherboard with a promise FastTrack 100 RAID controller set up, and the following that might prove useful to know... 512 DDR, SBLive Platinum, Hauppauge WinTV, Netgear NIC, XP 1700 cpu, and plenty of cooling for default voltage, stepping and FSB.

Problem:
I want to dual boot winXP with RedHat, and I only have my raid array to work with. Open partition is on the last half of the array. When I put the cd in to install according to the directions on the red hat site (directions for install with promise raid drivers) I am presented with the standard setup prompt. Here is am either supposed to type "linux dd" to load drivers or do the "expert" install. If I type either, I get an error about the pci probe not working right, then finally:

<VP_IDE: Unsupported SouthBridge please contact (insert czech name here... and email addy)>

It seems (as I have googled the issue into high heaven) that the 266a chipset has some problems with certian kernels. To make sure it was not a distro... I tried mandrake, same error. Any ideas everyone?

Please note:
I am new to Linux, having only run normal installs of Mandrake 8.0 and 8.1 as a secondary OS to work with. I'd really like to keep working with it, but this level of tinkering daunts me. I'll be willing to run any test... I'm pretty quick on the uptake.

Thanks in advance.

Under GRUB, type e to edit the kernel startup, and under the first line, ( I think ) the one initializing you hda, type at the end "noathlon". After you edit the line press "b" to boot. Should startup fine. Some problem with VIA's and Socket A processors. Then go straight to the "update agent" and upgrade to the 2.4.9-31 kernel. 😀 Hope that helps.
