Red Faction: Guerrilla

Red Faction 1 was a great FPS, both single player and multiplayer. Very underrated for the PC imo.

LOVED GeoMod and used it to my advantage always. Back in the days of RF and C&C: Renegade, I was actually darned good at inline gaming.... ahhh 56k modem days!!!

In RF1 I loved using the rocket launcher and making intricate tunnels in the levels. If you can do the same thing in RF3, then I'm gonna be all over this 😉

I love the first game, but never could finish it. Kept running into a bug at the end of one of the levels that prevented completion of the level.

But in all fairness Mercs 2 wasn't that bad...I always had fun playing it and still do.

Same here... loved playing Mercenaries 2 - felt like GTA 3 on steroids. 🙂

I liked the first one a lot, and Guerrilla looks decent, but I am not interested in a third-person action game, it should have stayed first-person. I was expecting it to be a first-person when it was first announced before they gave any details, but ever since I knew about it being third-person I resigned, I won't buy it.

The only good third-person game I've played in a long time has been Mass Effect, and it ain't even a purely action-oriented game anyway, for me being able to blow up every damn polygons won't compensate for its lack of first-person view, unless of course it can be set in first-person by option, but I don't think I've read anything about such an option so far. It's frustrating to a point because I really wanted to give it a try. I'll probably have to wait for the fourth in the series for that (the second one wasn't bad by the way, but was far below the original's overall quality).

Did you patch the game and try?

I so wanted to like it. I sang the cartoon jingle for a month. But the controls felt retarded and the vehicles handled like crap. Just wasn't worth my time and the lukewarm reviews only reinforced what I was feeling, so I didn't think there'd be some magical breakthru where things would suddenly get awesome.
