Red dots on my screen

When I try and play counterstrike source or call of duty 4 my screen will have all these red dots and get really pixely. The game shuts down and then I have to restart my computer. I cleaned A LOT of dust out of my videocard thinking that it might be overheating or something but so far as I retry it still does the same thing. This is definitely a videocard issue right? I still get some red dots even on my desktop but not a lot. Just wondering if there is anything else I can do. My card is a radeon x800xl 256mb in case anyone wanted to know...kinda old school ha. anyways thanks in advance for any advice.

It could even be a monitor issue, if you have stuck pixels, you can sometimes see red tiny dots on your monitor. Try the monitor on a different computer, and also try switching your video card with a different one.

Just as I got your message my screen went black, came back on and now everything is Yellow. like highlighter yellow. this is really weird lol. Could that really be a monitor issue?

It sounds like a GPU problem. But I wouldn't rule out monitor. If you have your card over clocked return the clocks to default and see if that fixes it. If that is not the case try removing the heat sink and reapply some TIM. I just got COD4 and tried OC my card. I got garb about 10 minutes into the game. Resetting the clocks fixed the problem and it hasn't happened again.

Also make sure your monitor to video card cable is plugged in tightly.
