I'm loving the random events in this game. So much more diverse than GTAV. This game is well worth the eight year wait!Just be aware of random inviting you into their house. I went in because I figured I could rob them but they ended up getting me drunk, robbing me, and throwing me in a ditch out back. I went back, killed them and looted their whole house, got all my money back and even some more, threw a Molotov and burned the house down lol.
Agreed the random encounters in this game are well thought out. Same with the gunslinger hunts and side missions. It also pays off to help randoms because sometimes you will find them in a town and they will offer you a free item or gun by letting you put it on their tab. I'm sure there are a lot more random events I haven't ran into. I also notice if you see someone getting taken to jail and you free them, they give you robbery tips.I'm loving the random events in this game. So much more diverse than GTAV. Well I went with the Xbox One X with the $100 off when purchasing RDR2. It also came with Fallout 76 which is awesome if I can stand playing it on a controller. If so I won't have to buy it on PC, woot! I think I got one of the last few Xboxes at Gamespot (I went Saturday afternoon) and they sold the last PS4 pre-order RDR2 game when I was there. I wasn't sure I'd actually get a game and system but I did.
I haven't played a ton yet so far but I think it's pretty amazing even though I haven't gotten very far through it. I watched a video yesterday of fails while riding a horse in cinematic mode... LOL.
I was so excited for this game I was going to buy an Xbox One S just to play it. I think there's probably a decent chance of it coming out on PC, but Jesus, I really don't want to wait two years or so for that to happen. That's why I got a job, to buy shit man!
But today I discovered that you can't play the game at 4K on the Xbox One S? What the poop is that? The Xbox One S supports 4K HDR! Here's RDR2 info from Xbox's website:

Ugh, really? My co-worker told me about the Gamestop deal and that's how I find out about this: Buy RDR2, save 100 on Xbox.
You dang right that's confusing. The specs for the Xbox One S say it supports Ultra 4K, but that must only apply to video/Blu-ray watching. If you'e talking about games, I guess it just upscales to 4K and doesn't render at that natively?
Huh. Well... maybe I'll just get the Xbox One S anyway. I'm pretty sure the game won't look like trash if you play it on the One S, and I'm not one of those super critical people when it comes to this sort of thing. I'm just not sure getting a One X would be worth it as I'm not much of a gamer as it is! I'm only interested in getting an Xbox for RDR2, LMAO. Well, the 4K Blu-ray player is cool too haha.
Decisions! With the $100 discount, I'd be looking at $200 for the S version and $400 for the X version (at their normal prices). I'm strongly considering S version at this point.
One S has 4K HDR video (Bluray, Netflix, YouTube, etc.). Games are ~1080 HDR only on One S. You need the One X for 4K games.
One S supports 4K games, but not natively. You can still game in 4K if you have the One S. Read the 3rd paragraph.
linky
OK, name me one game that plays in 4K on the One S. (upscaling is not 4K, your 4K TV already upscales all content to 4K).
Not sure I have to??? I said it doesn’t support it natively. Did you read the link? It’s right off the Xbox support website. Reading it makes me wonder what type of signal is passed through because if it was simply upscaled, why is the original Xbox one not mentioned on their support site stating it would be upscaled?
Because the One S has a 4K upscaler while the original One does not. Most/all 4K TV has a 4K upscaler also so it is a matter of which upscaler is better. Either way I cannot see how you can claim the One S supports 4K games when it doesn't. Using that logic an Atari 2600 supports 4K since it is upscaled to 4K in the TV.
I think the whole point is the article is stating it will display 4k uhd for videos and content but games on the one s will get upscaled.
Finished the game last night on my PS4 Pro. What a ride it has been. I am going to dust off my xbox one S and replay the first RDR game. It has much more meaning now.
2 is a prequel to 1. It would make sense to play it this way but the only thing is you will get used to the graphics and gameplay plus whatever they added to 2 vs the original. This may make it harder to play 1 after.Would you recommend playing 2 before 1? Have them both in my very long backlog, wonder which I should play first.
If i had never played 1 before I would definitely play 2 first. It will make 1 that much more better.Would you recommend playing 2 before 1? Have them both in my very long backlog, wonder which I should play first.
I've had the game since release day and I'm on chapter 3. 26% story complete and like 46% overall. I haven't uncovered the whole map yet but I've been trying to catch most of the legendary fish.I don't know how soon I'm ever going to finish this huge game. I'm still on chapter 4 and I got this on release day. I usually take forever to finish games.
