building a budget PC for a friend, ... (XP2400+ ECS MB, 256MB DDR2100)

usage profile
gaming: light
browsing / internet usage: major
home theater PC: moderate

our budget dictates around $55 for a video card, .. any suggestions (remember that Tv out quality is moderately important)

thanks, vin:beer:

Radeon 8500/9100 fits the bill. Prolly can get 128MB version if you don't mind used.

I spent awhile looking around on http://www.avsforum.com/ trying to figure this out myself lastnight. There is a certain tv-out chip that comes on some of the Nvidia cards and it is suppost to be one of the best especially if you use something called TVTOOL. I haven't figured out which ones come with the better chip but they also say most of the Nvidia cards are pretty good.

Thinking this Jaton one right now. Newegg has it for $42 but I haven't figure out which tv-out chip its using yet.

The old Matrox G400 32meg dual head is also suppost to be really really good
