It may be expensive but in order to work as a contractor in many refineries now they require the following: hair follicle & urine drug screens and breathalyzer test.

i've always wondered about stuff like this. what happens if you test positive due to spending a week in amsterdam and going native?

actually - what if you're bald?

It's coming everywhere but texas soon. A decade or 2 in the future people will barely even remember that it was illegal at some point.

Depends on where you are in Texas I guess, and which cops you run into :p

This happened to me, ironically at a travel company. They did a hair test and I had traveled around the world 2 months prior, including a stop in Amsterdam. My hair was short so they shaved my armpits.

I'm really interested in seeing how this works. The argument from supporters will be that as long as all commerce is conducted in-state, it shouldn't be the fed's business. The DEA will argue that having it available in those states will make illegal sales across state lines easy, as there are no checkpoints at the borders.

This will be really interesting from a constitutional law standpoint.

Won't work. The USSC has interpreted the Commerce Clause to mean that anything that affects interstate commerce, whether or not the commerce itself is interstate, is considered interstate.

Buying an apple from the guy down the street is interstate commerce because by doing so you forgo the opportunity to buy from an out-of-state producer, thus your purchase affects interstate commerce and is subject to federal regulation.

If you come back positive for opiates or amphetamines and are prescribed drugs that contain either once your Doctor that prescribed the drug has spoken your company's Medical Review Officer you're good to go. The company for whom I work has a zero tolerance policy, if your drug screen exceeds the threshold for a given substance/drug you will be immediately terminated.

I'm partially bald and keep what hair I do have on my head around a 1/4" in length so they took the sample from my chest, others I know have had samples taken from an arm or leg.

this news is excellent. Will be interesting to see what the feds say about it or even do something about it. But I don't think the feds have aren't really worried about the average person smoking weed ... tho what happens when you smoking weed in a federal park? Hmmm....

Sadly, they do care. They shut down a ton of dispensaries in CA. Some of them were very legit and were serving to people who really benefitted from it. Sure, a large % were just people wanted to get "legal meds". But if the Feds cared about MMJ helping legit sick people, they are going to care about recreational use I would think.

I really hope not though. I'm not a smoker but I support legalization of MJ

I don't really give a sh1t. If these people cause motor accidents, pain to their own children or some other social disorder, they need to be sent directly to prison and prosecuted for recklessness.

you're an idiot. that's all.

yes, they've basically ruled on this exact issue before. What was it, some guy in Missouri growing his own wheat. Feds put a stop to it

My hair is always > 1" so they always take the hair on my head.

Though my current employer does a urine test. Quite often.

I support it, if the government gets to tax it.

That is a gold mine waiting to happen, and I could see that helping alleviate some monetary issues in the government.

And they are right back in business with the blessing of the CA people.

The feds come and raid, pocket a bunch of cancer victims money and take the choicest buds for themselves back to DC.

DC needs to get their own is the problem. WTF Obama...bogarting mofo

Just goes to show CA = finest quality smoke.

Who could blame them? With the east coast's brown dry brick stuff that looks and tastes like compressed Mexican dogshit.

East Coast (illegal low quality smuggled)

I doubt people in prison are there for possession of only 1 oz of weed.

I voted for this one, but realistically it won't change a ton because of the Federal government and Obama. Obama cracked down hard on California so it'll be interesting to see his response to CO.

State law isn't going to stop the DEA from busting in your door and sending you to Federal prison.

My hope is that it simply frees up our local law enforcement and judicial resources to go after all the violent crimes.

My feelings as well and I also voted for it

It would be awesome if this leads to a huge court fight. I would love to see SCOTUS say that as long as weed is grown and consumed within the boundaries of a single state then the Feds have no right to criminalize it.

Stoners for states' rights!

You can thank FDR and his Supreme Court appointments for that not happening.
