Hey does anyone know of a way to recreat a raid 0. i had a broken array 0 so i deleted the array. I would like to get the stuff off on the two HDs though, I was told that when you recreate the array it wouldn't format the arrays but mines (Via raid bios 2.20) keeps asking if i would like to format to complete the stripping process.... Does anyone know how to do this, i this has been a long drown our problem for me because i would like to salvage the data on these disk. thanks a lot ppl

I'm sorry to tell you that you are screwed.

If you keep anything important on RAID 0, you MUST back it up.

I've been doing RAID 0 for about three years with zero problems. But I image the drive daily to a third drive.

I don't think there is much that can be done at this point. Raid 0 puts part of the data on one drive and part on the other, so unless you can get the array back, all you can get off the drives is gibberish and useless.

RAID 0 is ZERO redundancy. There is no way to rebuild a RAID 0 array if it's broken or deleted that I'm aware of.

Whoever told you you could was either on crack or was assuming you have a RAID 1 array (RAID mirroring).

Think long and hard before using RAID 0 again. It's not worth it on ANY mission critical data.

THANKS MR GRENCH, LOLZ hey well i didnt want to have to pay for the software, I did DL it though and now am using to do some scan RIGHT NOW (i hope it doesnt mess anything up) i read the help and will follow the directions to see what i have to do. Do you know how to use this software. OH and to those people who say u can't recovery stuff from a broken array, humm, what do u mean, i think i would understand if some of the files will vbe corrupted but im sure a lot of the wont considering the things i wanna retrieve are pics and music :). There seems to be several RAID Reconstuctors (and extractors) that are suppose to help u recover info from a broken array. :) just a little FYI.

Well done fella.

Which sw are you using for the recovery.
There is also [now you come to mention it] a proggy called RAID reconstruction. I wonder what that does.
If one of your drives was truly trashed - you would lose ALL of the data that was larger than the stripe size, and approx 50% of the data that was smaller than the stripe size [usually about 64KB]

Well, let us know how you make out.

I'm sure your pics and music will be fine.
