Recovery disk problem

I'm trying to create a recovery disk as part of creating a backup image of my Windows 7 installation so that I have a full image to revert back to in case I hate Windows 8 (refrain from opinions about Windows 8, please :) )

My Lenovo Y580 wont run Windows' system recovery disk creation saying there is an error and parameters are incorrect. You can assume this system is completely clean, no bugs, no malfunctions, it is for all intents and purposes 'out of the box' with some programs installed. I'm a knowledgeable user. I don't have click-everything-malicious-online-itis. I downloaded MS's recovery disk image but my laptop wont load from it.

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions? Thank you.

Quote us exactly what the error says including any error codes. You may not need it anyways if your system is close to out-of-box state. Pull up disk management (right click computer icon/link and select manage) and see if Disk Management under Storage lists a recovery partition. It may not be labeled as recovery partition but typically it is around 15GB but may be as small as 1.4GB depending on the bloatware. That partition will set it back to the Out-Of-Box state if needed.

"System repair disc could not be created,
The parameter is incorrect. (0x80070057)"

It is close to out of box but I have several personal UI settings and programs installed that I don't want to have to go through again. It is far too much resetting for me to do all over again. I'm just looking for a full image that can be flashed back to the computer, if possible of course.

I believe that trying to use the native Windows recovery disk wizard fails, because of the way Lenovo has setup the Y580 partitions (hidden recovery partition), since the Windows recovery disk wizard has a known problem creating backups when certain reparse points (junctions) are present . Read Chapter 4. OneKey Rescue system: Y580 User Guide

From Chapter 4:
Using Lenovo OneKey Recovery (within Windows operating system)

In Windows operating system, double click the OneKey Recovery system Icon on the desktop to launch Lenovo OneKey Recovery.
Within the program, you can back up the system partition on the hard disk drive, other storage devices, or by creating recovery discs.
For more instructions, see the Help file of Lenovo OneKey Recovery.

Thanks for that. Helps a lot. I've made an image with Windows and OneKey. How will I load them if I need to? I don't have a disc with this laptop. They don't provide those anymore.

Beautiful. Thanks. I hope they launch though. Right now, I can't get the one I got elsewhere to even boot from disc.
