Recovery Disc

Just bought my first Win10 native laptop and there doesn't seem to be any of the previous make recovery media utilities that I'm used to. All the ones I could find on the asus website mention as being for win 7 or win 8 only. For win 10, are manufactures using only the built in win 10 method to make a recovery disc now?

Depends on the brand probably. I know HP still has their system recovery in the drive, but the recovery and backup methods are built into the Windows 10 recovery interface.

If you want the OE system recovery cds, then we need the make and model to look up how to do it. Most computers will let you create 1 set of recovery cds. Bu remember if you do it that way, you are making a disc with whatever the unit shipped with. it is better to use a program like Acronis TruImage to make a backup image of your computer to another hard drive or to cd/dvd. This way if something goes wrong when you put the image back you only need to update programs that changed maybe some personal data files or bookmarks (both of which I always copy to another drive on a regular basis)

It's an asus gl753ve. Based on what's present in the manual and on their website, there does not seem to be any factory restore outside of what the OS performs.

They key line being Note: If your model does Not have ASUS Backtracker listed, it's not supported

Saw reference that all your needed drivers would be in an esupport folder, mine has nothing but copy of the manual. Checked in disk admin and there is a .9gb recovery drive, guess it's time to see what the OS thing does.

The answer to your question, yes some (not all) are no longer providing a third-party or OEM solution for creating/burning restore media, but rather the 'create recovery disk' feature built into the preinstalled OS image. Some (not all) have been doing this since Windows 8 and 8.1, too.
