Recovering data after hard drive was imaged

All,

I need help big time. I ghosted an image on a laptop and forgot to save the information. Is there any way to recover the data that was there before the image? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Most likely no, image programs do a pretty spectacular job at overwriting what was there. If the new image contains less info than the old system (and the image program did a file by file laydown), you may be able to recover SOME of the data towards the end of the volume. It will be fairly expensive and timeconsuming to do however.
