I accidently hit format instead of finalize (while the disc was in the camera) on a disc full of photos. You need to finalize the disk before it can be read by a CD-ROM. I tried using BadCopy Pro and Get Data Back and had no luck. Any ideas?

It won't let me finalize the CD until I take atleast one picture, I took an old cd-rw full of pictures that I had formatted on purpose, took one picture and then finalized it and ran the same tests. No luck!

If the camera 'formatted' the disk by actually erasing the whole thing, you're SOL.

If all it did was take out the filesystem data, data recovery software *might* be able to do something. I'm not sure if there are ones specifically for CD filesystem data.

It doesn't work the same as the computer? As in, deleted files still exist but are marked as free space....

no it does not work the same as a computer hard drive, if it formatted the disc, then they are gone. optical discs that are rewritable are done so by the laser burning the media to fool the optics into thinking there are pits and lands(actually it just creates a phase change in the media which essentially makes dark spots into the media, therefore creating the illusion of pits and lands, once it is returned to the normal reflective state by formatting, the data is gone....period...
