Ok...I have read around at various forums including here obviously but I haven't found my specific question answered anywhere. Here's what I want to do.

I plan on running the 2nd line of a dual LNB into my computer room and installing a DirecTV receiver there. Then run an S-Video cable to my WinFast TV2000 XP Expert card along with the audio RCA cable. I know that I will have to control the channels via the receiver remote and have to tune the Winfast card to channel 3 or 4. Will I be able to record pretty easily using this setup? I am not worried about using the PC while it is recording. Also, will the viewing guide that comes with the Winfast card be useable for recording or will I be stuck relying on the DTV guide?. My ultimate goal is to record sporting events and later record them to DVD.

Thanks for the feedback!

I just setup something similar to this. You will need to select programs on the direcTV guide to get it to change channels for recording. You will need the capture card to always record the same input, so I don't think you want to use a guide on there unless you can find some way to get it to always record the same video source.

So what your saying is that I will have a hard time scheduling ahead of time because the guide that comes with the card will be pretty useless since it won't know what's coming on?
