recording audio from WMP

I have a few video files that I'd like to record a few audio chunks out of... how would one go about doing such a thing?

What kind of video files? WMV or otherwise?

If otherwise, you can probably open the video in VirtualDubMod (my version is 1.5.10.2), go to Streams, Stream List, and demux or save an audio stream as WAV.
