hey everyone

Heres my dilemma; Im trying to get the audio from a minidisc onto my pc through the analogue ports on the MD deck and the line in on my SB live value. I cant work out how to record the sound as a wav file (or any format for that matter). I was trying to use the nero wave editor but the sound that is recorded is either very distorted and at far too high a volume or it just records nothing. I also cant really test to hear what sound is coming from the deck in order to check the levels of the recording.

Is there any software (preferably free) that I can use to record from the line in on my pc???

cheers

Not to sound insulting, but did you plug your deck into the line-in or mic-in of the SB Live?

Anyway, if you don't mind paying, I would suggest buying Cool Edit 2000. If I'm not mistaken, it costs around $60 and is an awesome wave editor.

Before you try anything else though, I'm wondering what deck are you using? Does it have a headphone jack? If it does, you might want to try recording via the headphone jack instead to see if there are any problems with the deck's analogue out.
